For Unity in particular, the best file to import is a lossless original if you have one, because the engine will compress it again anyway.
Both formats are lossy. The converter decodes your MP3 and encodes that audio again as Vorbis, so it is compressed twice. At quality 5 the extra loss is usually hard to hear, but it exists, and the OGG can never sound better than the MP3 it came from. Any artifacts already present in a low-bitrate MP3, like swishy cymbals, will still be there.
Vorbis uses a variable bitrate, so sizes vary with the music, but these are fair expectations for stereo audio:

If you still have the WAV or FLAC master, converting that to OGG instead avoids the double compression entirely. The OGG converter accepts those files too.
MP3 encoders add a short stretch of silence at the start and end of a file, which is one reason game developers prefer Vorbis for loops. The decoder removes that padding when the MP3 includes the usual encoder information, but if your loop still has a gap after converting, trim it in an editor, or export the loop straight from the original project.
ID3 tags from the MP3 may not all transfer to Vorbis comments, and embedded album art is unlikely to come across. Games ignore tags, but a music library won't.
Built-in apps on Apple devices have historically had limited OGG support. For general listening, keep the MP3, and use the MP3 converter for other formats.
Both can live in an Ogg file, and our OGG option always produces Vorbis. That matters, because formats like Minecraft resource packs and RPG Maker expect Vorbis specifically. Opus files from the Opus output are a separate choice: 128 kbps, always 48 kHz stereo. Check your engine's documentation before picking Opus, since Vorbis support is the more established of the two in game tools.
A 22.05 kHz MP3 becomes a 22.05 kHz OGG, since the rate is not changed. Changing format won't restore the high frequencies that rate can't hold.
